Rick specializes in rebuilding start-up and middle market companies. He has more than twenty years of know-how in collaborating with C-Level Executives, Boards of Directors, Private Equity, and Venture Capital investors, as an operating executive and a business advisor. His strengths are his abilities to expeditiously and effectively understand a company’s underlying business realities determine the appropriate end game, align organizations to execute strategy and motivate talent to achieve beyond their own expectations.
His experience includes operational roles as CEO, President, COO, CSO, and a Director of the Board in a wide range of industries that encompasses business and professional services, telecommunications and Internet, scientific and medical devices, manufacturing, engineering and development, and consumer goods.
Rick began his career in (re)building companies as the Director of Strategy for Lockheed Martin where the company grew from a $50M to $1B business in 3 years. Subsequently he was recruited to become the Director of Strategy for Olympus where the company grew its Latin America business revenues from $150M to $250M in two years and the Global Digital Camera Business became the market leader worldwide in 3 years with over $1B in revenues.
Prior to the founding of Black Box Principals, Rick served as the Director/Principal for the leading Boutique Strategy firms of Braxton Associates, GeoPartners Research, ZEFER, and Archstone Consulting where he advised Fortune 1000 company executives, Corporate Venture and Professional Venture Funds, and middle market companies in strategy and shareholder value creation.
Rick holds a BA in History from Columbia University where he was also a three-time All Ivy Football player and an MBA from Boston University Graduate School of Management.
