Team Building

Based on a time-tested model of team effectiveness, we assess the strengths & weaknesses of management teams & engage them in designing and running small or large-scale team meetings and offsites designed to align team members on key strategic issues, address business challenges & lead organizational changes.

Although teams are the daily reality for many people working in modern organizations, they often provide some of the most challenging work experiences. As individuals progress in their organization, their involvement in teams becomes greater, the number of teams they must join to accomplish their work increases, and these teams also become more diverse and complex.

Over the years, we have worked with dozens of leadership and management teams and developed our own model of team effectiveness – partly based on organizational research and partly based on our own experiences. When working with a team, we often start with an assessment of their strengths and weaknesses. Using these data, we then engage them in designing and running small or large-scale team meetings and offsites, designed to align the team members on key strategic issues, address their business, organizational and interpersonal challenges.

Example. The new CEO of a PE owned financial services company needed to rebuild his senior leadership team. He engaged JRock consultants to assess the entire team and assist him in making build or buy decisions for each key role on the team.  After restructuring the team, and bringing in key external talent, JRock consultants attended all quarterly team off-sites and  coached the team on performing at peak levels as a team. The primary practices used with the team were ongoing team and individual coaching, data collection farther down in the organization, and targeted training for senior leaders.  The team addressed key issues between the new and old guard, and was able to get buy-in throughout the team on the path forward. The company returned to its prior positive rate of growth after having stalled prior to the work with JRock consultants.
